We all love a good roost as you hit a loamy or dusty berm at full speed. Unfortunately, the conditions in the UK aren't always ideal for such fun. So where are the conditions right? For one, right here in the Portes du Soleil. Another place you may (or may not) know about is Mijas in Spain. It's about half way between Malaga and Marbella on the Mediterranean coast, so you know the weather is going to be good.
Fortunately for us, two friends of mine (Ben and Mal) have been to Mijas, and they liked it so much they decided they'd like to show other people too. So, they set-up Roost DH. Based in Mijas, they pretty much sort out everything so that you can enjoy as much of the riding as possible. All you need do is pack up your bike and catch a flight. They provide transfers from the airport, quality accommodation, breakfast and dinner, bike workshop, mechanics, up-lifts and guiding. That's a lot of holiday for just under £600 (group discounts available).
Even though I've not been to Mijas, or been looked after by Ben and Mal, I can tell you it'll be a great holiday. They are both friendly chaps always looking to help people out. They have been biking and working together for years, including working as mtb guides here in the PDS, and technicians for some well known brands.
They have been shamelessly promoting their business over here during the World Champs, talking to as many people as they can from all over the world. Currently they are taking bookings from January 2012 onwards, so start saving your pennies for some winter time sun and shred.
